HUANG Tzu-Yu : Ms. Potato in B1: Solo Exhibition
Upcoming exhibition
Overview
YIRI ARTS is pleased to present Ms. Potato in B1, a solo exhibition by Taiwanese artist HUANG Tzu-Yu, opening on May 21, 2026. This marks the artist's first solo presentation at the gallery's Taipei space.
Working primarily with acrylic on wood, Huang has recently introduced water into her process, allowing pigments to flow across the surface and develop a distinctly time-based painterly language. Her practice has evolved from elongated narrative formats to constellations of small-scale works, establishing a visual structure that is both rhythmic and highly legible.
The recurring "small figure" within her compositions functions as a signature motif, tracing a continuous forward movement toward an uncertain future, while maintaining a balance between narrative and form.
Taking "potato" as its central metaphor, the exhibition reflects the artist's shifting condition between labor and artistic production, marking a significant development within her recent practice.
09–20 May 2026 The gallery will be closed for exhibition changeover.
