Chen Yun : Light Shimmering through Timely Rain: Solo Exhibition

21 May - 4 July 2026 YIRI ARTS
Overview
YIRI ARTS is pleased to present a solo exhibition by Chen Yun, on view from May 21, 2026.

Chen (b. 1988, Yilan) constructs her paintings through modular compositions and a montage-like narrative structure, evoking fragments of submerged memory. Recurring motifs such as fixed scenes, close-ups of hands, female figures, and intimate objects form a visual language that operates between narration and omission, allowing meaning to emerge through processes of assembly and reconfiguration.

Set within a contemporary condition defined by flux and instability, the exhibition seeks to establish a point of orientation between shifting memory and perception. Presented as constellations of works, the paintings unfold across the wall like fragments of memory, forming a spatialized, almost theatrical field that extends beyond the singular image.

Moving between figuration, everyday imagery, and abstract textures, Chen's practice emphasizes both continuity and interruption. Through layered surfaces and deliberate intervals, her works articulate an ongoing inquiry into painting, where meaning persists through accumulation and change becomes an extension of form and experience.

09–20 May 2026 The gallery will be closed for exhibition changeover.
