Keng Chieh-Sheng: Beneath the Leaves: Solo Exhibition

Some forms of life grow upward, reaching toward light and air, while others extend downward, slowly taking root beneath the soil. Branches, roots, and bones are all forms shaped by time within matter.

In nature, growth never follows a single direction. It may be pruned or constrained, yet it may also unfold quietly in hidden places, extending outward while gradually forming its own internal structure.

Through transformations between wood and vegetal forms, Keng Chieh-Sheng reconsiders the temporal sequence of materials, allowing what is often perceived as lifeless matter to return to a state of growth and change.

Growth is not only an upward movement, but also a process of continuous inward expansion. Beneath the leaves, hidden structures and energies gradually take shape through the intertwining of time, the body, and the forces of nature.
