YOKOYAMA Mai is an artist who constantly questions "what is real" through her technique of translating digital drawings created on iPad and watercolor imagery into oil paintings on canvas. Taking ruins encountered during her travels, mythological icons, and natural scenery as starting points, she overlays eternal motifs with non-material digital sketches, depicting subtle fluctuations between memory and visibility.
Over the years, she has presented her works across various cities in Japan and Taiwan. Key solo exhibitions include "Solar Phantasm", YIRI ARTS, Taiwan (2026); "Dance, Like the Brush", Shunpudo Gallery, Tokyo (2025); "Hidden Mountain", YIRI ARTS, Taiwan (2023); and "The wind blows, the sea sways, the waves rise", HARMAS GALLERY, Tokyo (2022). Selected group exhibitions include "MITSUKOSHI ART WEEK 2025", Nihombashi Mitsukoshi Main Store, Tokyo (2025); "Art Squiggle Yokohama 2024", Yamashita Pier, Kanagawa (2024); "There is a ghost in the room", TENSHADAI, Kyoto (2022); and "FACE 2021: Sompo Japan Nipponkoa Art Award Exhibition", Sompo Museum of Art, Tokyo (2021). Her work is included in public collections such as The University Art Museum - Tokyo University of the Arts, Machida City Museum of Graphic Arts, and Minamishimabara City.
