身體東西|徐叡平 個展

水壺的「物性」不在於它的物理組成而在於它作為器皿的存有方式,在於它的「空」。以此類推試問身體的「物性」為何?

壺壁及底座、臂與腿,在疼痛的部位劃下X。
若是我們首要以外型形容一物,那麼一隻幻肢的「物性」是什麼?

疼痛與鄉愁。
飄移中的板塊與正融化的冰塊。時間。

新科技不斷重新定義身體與身體的可能性,持續漂移的身體邊界,有機與無機的嵌合與來回商榷的相容性,什麼是身體,什麼是東西?

存有。個體。網絡。
沒有東西與所有的東西相關,但所有的東西都與某些東西相連,我們如何看待身為生物的我們與其他生物的系譜,身為東西與其他東西的關係?

鏡面。
在發展里程中我們仰賴鏡子領悟個體性,是否能倒帶重組,看見自身的碎塊和周遭一切事物存在中的纏結?

If the thingness of a jug lies not in its material but in its void, what is the thingness of bodies?

Sides and bottom, arms and legs, mark an x on where it hurts most.
If things are first and foremost described by their form, what is the thingness of a phantom limb?

Pain and nostalgia.
Shifting tectonic plates and melting ice. Time.

With technologies that continuously redefine what a body is and can be, with boundaries that are ever shifting,
through cuts and negotiating compatibilities, merging of the organic and inorganic, what is a body, what is a thing?

Beings. Individuals. Networks.
Nothing is connected to everything but everything is connected to something, how do we see our kinship as living bodies with other living bodies, our fellowship as things with other things?

Mirrors.
Developmentally we rely on the mirror to come to see ourselves as individuals, can we reverse and relearn, see ourselves as fragments that exist in contingence with everything around us?
