Wang Yu-Song creates a miniature city, a site-specific installation featuring the use of a heterogeneous assortment of materials including styrofoam containers, cement, bricks, wild grass, and discarded wooden planks. This work emerged from the artist's prior installation titled "Layers Upon Layers - Hills, Distribution Centers, Fishing Nets, Fish, Birds, Ports," which was showcased at the Zhongzheng Fishing Port in Keelung during the 2020 Chao Art Festival. In this work, Wang disassembled, transferred, recombined, and regenerated his previous creation to generate this new installation. Through the process of re-contextualization, Wang interrogates the themes of temporality, resilience, and transformation, all the while harnessing the aesthetic of the everyday in the form of waste and found materials.
