monouno: Evening's Blinking Yellow Lights

11 May - 3 June 2023 BACK_Y

“Evening is a personal moment. Whether it's the memories of childhood after school or the end of the workday as an adult, walking home seems to pause time for a moment, accompanied by the streetlights. There's always a moment when it feels like the blinking yellow lights stop everything, and we count the beats, watching the colors of the sunset. Actors need to get into character, sometimes losing themselves in the moment. They are momentarily separated from the outside world, but still exist in the same space and time, separated by a glass window. Each of us slowly lowers the car window, taking a deep breath as we speak our own line. Watching the passing lights and silhouettes through the window, we detach ourselves from reality.”

The exhibition starts with light, hinting at the sunset, the flickering yellow lights of cars, the shadows of leaves swaying in the light, and the shadows that repeatedly appear and disappear under the streetlights. However, these are all familiar scenes in our daily lives. When art merges with functionality, the ambiguity of their relationship, similarities and differences, and overlapping identities, are like light passing through the same filter or familiar shadows. This exhibition features functional objects, combined with the personal creations of two individuals. We hope that visitors will not only enter the exhibition but also our stories and everyday lives.
