Butaoxi, born in Taipei, majoring in product design in university.
Full-time graphic and illustration designer at early stages, handling record packages and poster visuals, including WeiBird, Bearbabes, Japanese Breakfast, and Bill Callahan. "TEARS are PEARLS" as her representative pieces, express the most direct emotional outlet - TEARS - and why it is so captivating.
Through the physical pearls, as the image of tears, along with warm and soothing ceramic art, an intimate conversation between the work and the viewer is self-connected: restrained emotions, reflected mirrors, recaptured troubles… Human beings, trying how to hug and snuggle, release and break free, in a seemingly apocalyptic era. Weep together, until the light be seen.
The new series "Crying Game" focuses on the shadows of childhood, attempting to evoke the deep-rooted trauma, connecting the link between crying and games. At IRI ARTS BACK_Y, she created a backyard paradise of sadness, with swings and slides, symbolizing the peaks and valleys of emotions, or from the joker and the king's point of view, to discuss the deeper meaning of toys.
If you weep one time, you get one chance to play the game. In this case, are you still afraid to cry?
