The Manor

11 September - 2 October 2025 BACK_Y

BACK_Y is honored to present The Manor, its latest group exhibition in collaboration with Tomio Koyama Gallery, Tokyo. Showcasing four Japanese artists, the exhibition interweaves vivid and diverse visual languages to create an artistic field that is both independent and resonant.

Within this imagined garden named The Manor, four realms emerge: from the tactile intensity of Aiko Yuno's surfaces to Midori Sato's dreamlike wardrobes and floral visions; from Satoshi Hirose's cosmos of beans to Shintaro Miyake's playful narratives. This is not an architecture of stone, but a sensorial and mental landscape woven from form, memory, and perception-an intimate banquet where materials and imagery converge.

Aiko Yuno's works, layered with resin and spray, condense fragments of time while preserving the echo of sensation. Midori Sato juxtaposes garments, florals, and abstraction, transforming the everyday into a chromatic and structural fantasy. Satoshi Hirose, taking the humble bean as his point of departure, expands it into a cosmic metaphor where the ordinary embodies infinite poetic and philosophical depth. In this exhibition, Shintaro Miyake presents works on paper, constructing an amusement ground between reality and fiction through narrative and line.

In The Manor, artworks are not merely objects to be viewed, but experiential terrains activated through perception. Distinct yet in dialogue, they resonate across the space, opening conversations on materiality, memory, and imagination.
