Wu Quan-En: Selection, Path

7 - 30 August 2025 BACK_Y

Riding a scooter through the city, the passing scenery appears smooth and seamless through the visor of a helmet-almost as if it were gliding across your eyes or directly against the surface of the shield.

Artist Wu Quan-En employs the concepts of "selection" and "path" to describe the visual impressions formed during movement-particularly the imagined interplay of colors found on building signs and roadside objects. From signage to traffic signals, these elements compete for attention through vivid, eye-catching hues. Round, flat, square-each seems to carve out a block of color on the cityscape and sky, creating framed segments that stretch, pause, or turn as the body continues its journey.

For this exhibition, the artist utilizes acrylic sheets as the primary material, bending and coloring them in ways that integrate the works seamlessly into the exhibition space. Viewers, upon entering the space, find themselves not only surrounded by the artworks but also moving within them.
