Within a space, many things are ‘unperceived’. These things– structure, proportion, volume, circulation, construction method, and lighting are subjects of contemplation during the creative process, yet may not be noticed. “A Class on Space: Point to Line to Plane” guides viewers in exploring the fundamental elements that build up space, through designing interactive installations, starting from the basic components of point, line, plane, and arriving at volume. We invite visitors to participate hands-on, to explore the feelings, sensations, and visual effects conjured by these elements, and to awaken their senses to space.

This exhibition will use “Point and Line to Plane” to link art and architecture, pairing works by Tada Minami, Li Yuan-Chia, Lin Richard, Chen Shiau-Peng, Kang Ya-Chu, and Hsieh Jung-Wei, as well as introducing the TFAM building, the NTU Agricultural Exhibition Hall, and Tunghai University’s Luce Memorial Chapel, architecture pieces exhibiting unique modernist qualities. These pieces will guide viewers in understanding the shared perspectives between artists and architects – observing and thinking about the structure of a composition, their gaze encounters that of the creator and senses their creative intent.
