Keng Chieh-Sheng Taiwanese, b. 1989

Keng Chieh-Sheng (b. 1989, Taichung, Taiwan) currently lives and works in Taiwan. He holds a BFA from the Department of Fine Arts at Taipei National University of the Arts and an MFA from the Graduate Institute of Sculpture at National Taiwan University of Arts. He also participated in an exchange program at the Department of Sculpture, Tama Art University in Japan. His practice centers on sculpture and installation, beginning with woodcarving and gradually expanding into an exploration of space and perception.

Keng engages deeply with the materiality of wood through processes of experimentation and transformation, challenging conventional understandings of the medium. By shaving solid blocks of wood into thin sheets, he shifts between singular and multiple forms, hardness and softness, individual and collective. His work highlights the transformations of matter across macro and micro scales, reflecting on the instability and constant flux of the human body in contemporary society. More recently, his practice explores how technology reshapes our environment and everyday life, tracing these shifts through personal experience and cultural contexts. Keng has been recognized with the S-An Art Award in the category of Plastic Arts, the Yulon Innovation Award from the Taiwan International Wood Sculpture Competition, and has been selected for the Kaohsiung Awards and the Tomorrow Sculpture Awards.
